It was about the 4th year of doing the Westie Walk when at the finish, I met a lovely lady who said she’d had a wonderful time joining in although she didn’t have a dog. She then explained that she had lost her baby son some 50 years ago and had never really spoken about it to anyone. She felt there was nowhere for her to go. Having experienced the walk, she felt able to start talking about it. I was happy to give her the information that allowed her access to one of the Befrienders for the Lullaby Trust who work with bereaved families regardless of when the loss occurred.
